The Salvation Army Response to ABC Compass Program

In light of the recent Compass program, The Salvation Army once again offers its sincerest apologies to survivors and their families who were failed whilst in our care.

The Salvation Army acknowledges inadequate past practices and procedures led to the abuse of children and other vulnerable people.

As an organisation, The Salvation Army today has zero tolerance for any form of abuse. To ensure harm is never repeated, The Salvation Army has for a number of years proactively undertaken several initiatives aimed at continuously strengthening its child protection policies and processes.

Since January 2013, The Salvation Army has welcomed the work of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. We have worked with the Commission, its investigators and other agencies in an open and transparent manner to review, strengthen and improve our child protection processes.
