Victoria state budget submission 2012-2013

Victoria state budget submission 2012-2013

Published on
25 January 2012

The Salvation Army applauds the commitment to improve the lives of vulnerable Victorians made by the Victorian Government, thus far. Over the course of the last year, a number of Coalition election commitments have been implemented and several significant policy reviews and reforms have been initiated. This year’s budget is an opportunity for this Government to build upon its commitments to improve the lives of Victorians.

In an effort to inform the Government of some of the most pressing issues “on the ground,” The Salvation Army has developed the attached budget submission in close consultation with our community service networks across the state.

We would like to take this opportunity to bring the Government’s attention to several key issues of concern which the organisation feels should be a top priority for this year’s budget including:

  • Housing Affordability and Homelessness,
  • Alcohol and Other Drugs,
  • Children and Youth,
  • Cost of Living and Emergency Relief,
  • Family Violence
  • Workforce Capacity

We trust that the information provided to you in this budget submission is of value and that it will assist the Victorian Government in achieving a fair and just society for all Victorians.
