Individual volunteering

We welcome individuals with fresh energy and ideas to volunteer at Sydney City Salvos.

Volunteers bring life to our values of integrity, compassion, respect, diversity and collaboration.

Whatever your skillset, availability or areas of interest, you may surprise yourself with the different ways you can demonstrate care for others in our local community and believe in good for those who are struggling.

Volunteering is also an invitation to put your faith into action in an area of ministry you feel God is calling you into or for which you have a passion.

We have many fantastic opportunities for individuals and groups to join us at Sydney City Salvos. Whether you’re an individual wanting to volunteer, a corporate group looking to make a difference, or someone who’d like to give financially or donate items, there’s a way for you to be part of the change.

Current volunteering opportunities

We’re looking for volunteers who can commit weekly, fortnightly or monthly — people who want to be part of something ongoing and impactful. You’ll be part of a welcoming and inclusive team, gain valuable experience and most importantly help bring hope to people in need.

Café volunteer

Help prepare and serve meals in our community café at Surry Hills and Waterloo Centres.

Retail assistant or online store assistant

Support our Family Stores by sorting donations, helping customers and keeping things running smoothly.

Or, if you enjoy taking photos, writing quirky descriptions or packing orders, you can help as an online retail assistant. You’ll give preloved treasures a new life while supporting the growth of our online shops.

Program volunteer

Have a passion for something like art, sport, or coffee? Start and lead a program for others to enjoy.

Food rescue driver

Collect and deliver rescued food to support people doing it tough.
